How to use the area calculator
- For a rectangle, measure its length and width. Each dimension can use a different unit.
- For an L-shape, split the plan into two adjacent rectangles with no overlap. The diagram shows how they join.
- Subtract excluded areas where needed, then calculate. Save your measurements or print the area and perimeter.
A worked example
Example: rectangle A is 3.2 × 2.4 m and rectangle B is 1.2 × 1 m. Joined without overlap, the L-shaped area is 7.68 + 1.2 = 8.88 m². One square foot is exactly 0.09290304 m².
