How to use the tile calculator
- Measure each area and select its units. Split an L-shape into two rectangles that do not overlap.
- Deduct areas that will not receive tiles. Enter the box coverage stated by the manufacturer.
- Choose a waste allowance for your layout and enter a price if you want a material cost. Calculate, then save or print.
A worked example
Example: 3.2 × 2.4 m = 7.68 m². A selected 10% waste allowance gives 8.448 m². At 1.8 m² per box, buy 5 boxes covering 9 m². At AUD 45 per box, the tile cost is AUD 225.
